Pete Rose Jr. pleads guilty to distributing steroid alternative Tuesday 11/9/05
Pete Rose Jr., the son of baseball's all-time hits leader and a player for the Long Island Ducks last season, pleaded guilty yesterday to charges that he distributed GBL, a drug sometimes sold as a steroid alternative. GBL is used to build muscle, improve physical performance, enhance sex, reduce stress and induce sleep. When taken orally, GBL is converted to the "date-rape" drug GHB, or gamma hydroxybutyrate.
